European-Inspired Single Floor Living with Comfort to Spare
A number of our design build projects have started when clients admired a home we are building or have already built. That’s the case with the Cherry Tree Hill House, which we built for a couple who had lived in France and wanted a European feel for their Vermont home.

A Fruitful Dialogue
We were working on a new build in Montpelier, VT, when a couple stopped by to admire the home, and asked if we might talk about something similar on a country lot in East Montpelier. This inspired a dialogue about meeting the needs of the couple, who would split their time between Central Vermont and Paris.

Single Floor Design, European Feel
As they were approaching retirement age, the clients thought a single floor design would suit their needs best. They maximized the space with high ceilings and panoramic views of a meadow on the site, which made the home feel larger while emphasizing the natural beauty around them.

Elegance and Antiques
The interior of the home reflects a European elegance, with wide oak plank floors, lean lines, curbless showers, and plenty of room for the couple’s antiques. Cast-iron radiators provide a classic feel, while mini-split heat pumps for heat and AC provide comfort and energy efficiency.
Like in many of our projects, these clients have continued work with us after finishing the build, to add some extras that will make their Vermont home even more welcoming and comfortable.
